From mid-May to mid-September every year thousands of anglers come to Homer, “The Halibut Fishing Capital of the World”, to fish in the Homer Jackpot Halibut Derby. The Homer Jackpot Halibut Derby is the longest running halibut fishing competition with the largest total payout in Alaska.
