Antique police launches ‘Ligtas Kapaskuhan 2019’
The Antique Provincial Police Office is beefing up its security by setting up public assistance desks in places expected to have influx of tourists during the Christmas season and the upcoming Binirayan Festival slated Dec. 15 to 30. PNA/ANNABEL CONSUELO PETINGLAY SAN JOSE, Antique – The provincialpolice office here recently started setting up public assistance desks (PADs) inplaces expected to have influx of tourists – as part of its campaign for“Ligtas Kapaskuhan 2019.” He added the PADs in the mall will bemanned by at least three police officers who will be there after New Year’sDay.(With a report from PNA/PN) Escobar said victims shouldimmediately ask for assistance from police officers assigned at theirrespective PADs for help. With the Binirayan Festival, they wereexpecting police augmentation from the Police Regional Office 6 and fromvarious municipal police stations in the province, he said. Binirayan Festival is the annualprovincial festival celebrating the arrival of the 10 Bornean datus whoestablished their first barangay in the country along Malandog River in thiscapital town. “The fliers contain cellphone numbersfor public coordination with the police to prevent crimes,” he added. “There are PADs that are set up indifferent areas with the police aiming for a zero-crime incident in theprovince,” Staff Sergeant John Mark Gonzaga, assistant public informationofficer of the Antique Provincial Police Office (APPO), said on Thursday. Gonzaga said aside from PADs, they arealso distributing fliers on anti-criminality information to the communities. The PADS were established in malls,churches and various places of convergence in time for the Binirayan Festivalon Dec 15 to 30 and various tourist spots in the municipalities like Pandanwhere the Malumpati Spring is located. Earlier, APPO Deputy Director forOperations Lieutenant Colonel Norby Escobar warned the public against snatchersor “budol-budol” who might take advantage of the Christmas season and theupcoming Binirayan Festival.
