LocalNews Creole song contest to bring curtains down on DOMFESTA 2012 by: – June 1, 2012 Share 21 Views   no discussionscenter_img Share Tweet DOMFESTA 2012 bannerA Creole Song Contest will bring the curtains down on the 29th annual DOMFESTA 2012 celebration this evening in which ten finalists from across the island will participate in.According to Chief Cultural Officer Raymond Lawrence the winner of this evening’s competition will be performing at two of Dominica’s major events.“The winner will go on to make a guest appearance at the World Creole Music Festival and LIME’s Creole in the park. In addition to receiving a cash prize and trophy, there will also be a first and second runner up position”.The show will feature performances by the Waitukubuli Dance Theatre Company, Ras Mo, Michel Henderson and the Paix Bouche Drummers.The competition is scheduled for 8:00 pm at the Arawak House of Culture and tickets cost $20.00.Lawrence has also described this year’s DOMFESTA celebration as “successful”.The celebrations opened with a play “Obeah Man” by Alex Bruno on April 27th, 2012.There was also the Kweyol Spelling Bee competition, Pork Festival in Bagatelle, Poetry and Drumming Festival, art exhibitions and two concerts featuring international artistes.Dominica Vibes Newslast_img
