Taron Egerton Covers “Rocket Man”, To Appear On Soundtrack Of Forthcoming Elton John Biopic [Listen]

first_imgA biopic about the life and career of Elton John is scheduled to arrive in movie theaters in just a few weeks on May 17th. Titled, Rocket Man, the biographical musical drama stars Taron Egerton as John, and will take audiences back to John’s early days as a piano prodigy at the Royal Academy of Music up to the start of his journey alongside career-long songwriting partner, Bernie Taupin.On Wednesday, the film’s producers shared the recording of Egerton covering John’s 1972 ballad, “Rocket Man”, which is set to appear on the biopic’s official soundtrack. While Egerton’s version obviously is not the same as what fans around the world have been listening to for the last 40 years, it does shine thanks to the actors natural singing abilities. The song’s video takes viewers into the recording studio where a solo Egerton is seen singing into a microphone, while also showing some footage from the film. Fans can decide for themselves what they think of Egerton’s impressive cover.
