In a series sweep of Saint Mary’s this past weekend, Hales hit .500 and went 8 for 16 with a double and four home runs, including nine RBI, six runs and two walks for the Cougars. This is BYU’s first national ranking since April 18, 2016. The streaking Cougars have won 8 of their last 13 games and 13 of their last 15 contests. The Tucson, Ariz.-based publication has the 21-5 (7-2 in West Coast Conference play) Cougars ranked 24th in this week’s polls. Additionally, Collegiate Baseball named senior right fielder Brock Hale as its National Player of the Week and Rawlings named him as their West Coast Conference Player of the Week.
